What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government initiative in Australia that aims to fund the services needed to help those with disabilities live more independently. This funding may allow participants to access personal care services, install necessary home modifications that allow them to live independently, receive any services or aids that are needed, and engage more fully in their community.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is overseen by the National Disability Insurance Agency. Support services are provided by registered NDIS providers who are recognised by the NDIS, such as Radiant Home Care.
What disabilities are covered by the NDIS?
To qualify as an NDIS participant, your disability must be permanent and significant. This can include any type of disability: intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive, or psychosocial. Participants must also be aged 65 and under and be a citizen or resident of Australia. If you are older than 65 and require support, the NDIS may fund supports that are not covered by the aged care system.
Do I need to go with a registered provider in Armadale?
If your plan is being managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency, you will need to go with a registered provider. These are people who are registered with the NDIS and meet certain service requirements:
- Comply with the NDIS Act 2013;
- Comply with the NDIS Terms of Business for Registered Providers and any conditions of NDIS Registration; and
